If you like to have a cuppa of coffee or tea, you will be happy to know that coffee and tea drinkers have a lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. It might prevent diabetes.

High blood sugar levels characterize diabetes, which is a chronic medical condition resulting from the body’s inability to either produce insulin or use insulin effectively. It is a growing concern worldwide, with millions of people affected by it.

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world, and it contains several bioactive compounds, including caffeine, chlorogenic acids, and trigonelline.

Tea, on the other hand, is another popular beverage that is known for its health benefits. Antioxidants and polyphenols, such as catechins and epicatechins, present in tea, have demonstrated an ability to enhance insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism.

BBC Health reported that they have looked at 18 separate studies and found that people who drink 3 -4 cups a day cut their risk by a fifth.

What’s Type 2 diabetes? Typically, diabetes onset occurs when an individual reaches the age of 40 and their body is still capable of producing some insulin, but not enough. Alternatively, it may develop when the insulin produced by the body fails to function correctly.

Identification of the active component in tea and coffee opens up new therapeutic options to prevent diabetes but one should never avoid exercising or keeping a healthy and balanced diet to stay pink.
