Vaginal Yeast Infection DIY Test

improve awareness in stroke survivors

This is an after-note from my earlier post on Yeast Infection plagues most women at least once in their lifetime.

It’s also known as vulvovaginal candidiasis, is a common fungal infection that affects women. It is caused by an overgrowth of the fungus Candida albicans, which normally lives in small amounts in the vagina.

The symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection may include:

  • Itching and soreness in the vaginal area
  • Pain or discomfort during sex or urination
  • Redness and swelling of the vulva
  • Thick, white, odorless vaginal discharge

Some factors that can increase the risk of developing a vaginal yeast infection include:

  • Taking antibiotics or corticosteroids
  • Having uncontrolled diabetes
  • Being pregnant
  • Using hormonal contraceptives, such as birth control pills
  • Having a weakened immune system

Vaginal yeast infections are usually treated with antifungal medications, which can be taken orally or applied topically to the affected area. It’s also important to practice good hygiene, wear cotton underwear, and avoid tight-fitting clothing to prevent future infections.

In some cases, recurrent vaginal yeast infections may be a sign of an underlying medical condition, such as diabetes or HIV. Women who experience frequent yeast infections may need to undergo additional testing to rule out underlying health issues.

I don’t know if this is true or otherwise. However, you may still like to check out what Samantha G. had to share about a simple and free test a woman can do to find out if she really got vaginal yeast infection. This is what the woman must do:

When you wake up, spit into a glass of water and observe it for about 2 minutes. If it floats at the top of the glass and stays there, then you’re okay. If it sinks right away and then dissolves in the glass into stringy pieces, then you probably have a yeast infection in which case you need to treat it right away.
